  • This is not the first appearance of Monkeyman; he has appeared a number of times, including the first episode, "Downtown as Fruits"
  • The sign outside the zoo says "Hillwood City Zoological Garden", but there's no evidence that the zoo is inside the same city where Arnold lives
Then again, see "Stuck In A Tree"
  • Monkeyman is called "a mystery wrapped in an enigma"; Winston Churchill, in a radio address on October 1, 1939, called Russia "a riddle wrapped in a mystery inside an enigma"
  • The "Monkey Island" sign says "Monkey Around Island"
  • Stinky calls him "the Monkeyman" (then again, Batman was originally called "the Batman")
  • When Monkeyman first appears, the sign on the wall behind him says "see the monkeys at the zoo"
  • Monkeyman has the "superhero's credo" (which he spells "super hero's creedo"):
    1. Protect the weak and downtrodden
    2. Serve for the good of all
    3. Be kind to all creatures
  • The banana warehouse at the dock says "ROB RTSON" on top; Chris Robertson is one of the show's artists (and, beginning with "Buses, Bikes, and Subways", directors)
  • The man Monkeyman talks to at the art museum looks like Rhonda's father, but doesn't sound anything like him

  • Nickelodeon - the network where you can't say "beer", but you can say..."beer"? They're singing "99 Bottles of Beer (as opposed to, say, "Milk" or "Pop") on the Wall" on the bus after they leave the chocolate factory
  • This is the second episode where Helga uses the term "WrestleMania" (the first being "False Alarm"), and apparently the second time it's been held in that city
  • Hmmm...somebody diving into chocolate at a chocolate factory; now where have I seen that before? (How about "in Roald Dahl's book Charlie and the Chocolate Factory (made into two movies?)
  • Arnold makes it sound like there are two fourth grade classes at P.S. 118
  • Mr. Simmons counts 30 students in the bus, but nowhere near that many got off (nor have nearly that many fourth graders ever been shown)
  • Didn't it ever occur to Helga to call collect?
  • The tunnel at Lincoln Station is dated 1952
