Eugene's Birthday
When Eugene thinks the lack of attendance at his two birthday parties is Arnold's fault, Arnold throws him another party - but Eugene, who thinks Arnold is a jinx, won't attend
Written by Craig Bartlett
Storyboard Direction by Sherm Cohen
Animation Direction by Christine Kolosov
Storyboard Artist: Tim Parsons

Cast:
Arnold - Spencer Klein
Helga - Francesca Marie Smith
Gerald - Jamil W. Smith
Eugene - Ben Diskin
Stinky - Christopher P. Walberg
Sid - Sam Gifaldi
Chocolate Boy - Jordan Warkol
Harvey the mailman - Lou Rawls
Mr. Feltz (the grocer), Aquarium guard - Dom Irrera

  • The treehouse has a "KEEP LEET" sign - which, in one scene, becomes the correct "KEEP LEFT" (and if you're familiar with "KEEP RIGHT" but wondering why there would be a "left" version, it's usually used to point out a main road when a side street splits off to its right)
  • The aquarium apparently replaced "Angel", which was eaten by a shark at the end of "Eugene's Pet"
  • According to its sign, the ice cream stand at the dock was founded before 1610
  • Don't try this at your roller rink (if there's one in your area - what with insurance costs and the popularity of inline skates, which aren't really associated with roller rinks, most rinks have closed in the past decade): groups of people forming a "chain" while skating, especially backwards, is frowned upon by most roller rink operators
  • Somebody should tell Arnold that when there's a thunderstorm, you really should be indoors if possible, especially if the only clouds happen to be directly over where you are
  • I assume that's Eugene's mother vacuuming in Eugene's house (she makes a brief appearance next to Eugene and his father in "Parent's Day")

  • We don't know Arnold's last name, but we now know that "Stinky" is Stinky's real first name
  • This is the second "Stinky episode" - and the second one where he doesn't use the word "bites"
  • Stinky spelled his last name "Peterson" (as opposed to "Petersen") on his book report
  • Stinky's book report included the word "lott'd" (instead of "lot of", although Stinky would probably say "lotta")
  • Stinky can do something better than pretty much anybody else: roll a sleeping bag (mentioned in "World Records")
  • Haven't I seen that "rain, drought, snow in the same week" joke before?   Yes - in Rugrats ("Grandpa Moves Out")
  • When Ernie is about to come through the trees with the pumpkin on the crane, you can see Nadine's parents right next to her (and it's not just the kids that never seem to change clothes; they're wearing the same clothes, right down to his hat, that they wear in "Parents Day")
  • If you think you've seen that picture of Stinky's grandparents before (where his grandfather is holding a pitchfork), you have (and not just on reruns of Green Acres); it's based on the painting "American Gothic" by Grant Wood, currently hanging in the Art Institute of Chicago.
  • SPECIAL THANKS - LISA GROENING: she's Craig Bartlett's wife, The Simpsons (and Futurama) creator Matt Groening's sister, and the person after whom Lisa Simpson is named (but the similarities end there - for example, the "real" Lisa is not a saxophone player)
