New Teacher
When Miss Slovak quits her job, the kids give their new teacher, Mr. Simmons, the "new teacher treatment",
but when he also leaves and is replaced by a no-nonsense ex-Army officer, they realize that Mr. Simmons wasn't
so bad after all

Cast:
Arnold - Phillip Van Dyke
Gerald - Jamil W. Smith
Helga - Francesca Marie Smith
Phoebe - Anndi L. McAfee
Curly - Adam Wylie
Harold - Justin Shenkarow
Stinky - Christopher Walberg
Mr. Simmons - Dan Butler
Principal Wartz - David Wohl
Mr. Goose - John Garry
- Mr. Simmons is voiced by Dan Butler, probably better known as "Bulldog"
on Frasier
- Up until now, the episodes didn't really have an "order", but now there
are "episodes before Miss Slovak left" and "episodes after Miss Slovak left"
- ...although "Arnold Saves Sid" has Miss Slovak in it, and it appeared
after this episode (well, so did "Teachers' Strike" and "Runaway Float", but they were made
with the other first season episodes)
- Actually, there's no such thing as a "Lieutenant Major" (the rank above
Major is Lieutenant Colonel, and below Major is Captain)
- There's also no such thing as "oh-ten-hundred-hours" ("ten hundred
hours" without the "oh" means 10:00 in the morning; "oh-nine-hundred-hours" means 9:00)
- Harold's last name (Berman) is revealed, as is Curly's first name (Thaddeus)
- In the class this time: Arnold, Gerald, Helga, Harold, Phoebe, Rhonda, Sheena,
Nadine, Brainy, Stinky, Iggy, and Curly - but not Sid (or Eugene or Park, for that matter)
- I've been told that the poem "They Were Delicious" by "Walter
Charles Walters" is based on the real poem "This Is Just To Say" by William Carlos Williams; also,
Gerald's poem is similar to Alan Ginsberg's "Howl" (see Lisa's poem "Howl of the Unappreciated"
in the Thanksgiving episode of The Simpsons
for another take on this)
