Benchwarmer
Arnold's basketball coach has one strategy - pass the ball to his son - and when Arnold passes to someone
else, he "rides the pine", until he finds a way to help the coach's son with a free throw shooting weakness

Cast:
Arnold - Toran Caudell
Gerald - Jamil W. Smith
Stinky - Christopher P. Walberg
Grandpa, referee - Dan Castellaneta
Coach Wittenberg - James Belushi
Tucker - Grant Gelt
- Guest voice: James Belushi (Simon on Aaahh!
Real Monsters) as Coach Wittenberg
- The other players on Arnold's team: Tucker (the coach's son), Gerald, Stinky,
Robert (blonde kid with the glasses that appears in other episodes, usually in a green shirt), Lamar, Frankie,
and Ravi
- No credit is given to the boy who claims Tucker is faking his injury
- Notice the scoreboard has the "Visitor" score on the left and the "Home"
score on the right; virtually every real scoreboard has them the other way around
- The scoreboard has room for 10 names on each side when shown in close-up, but
when Arnold is shooting free throws, there are only 7 spaces on each side
- The players are listed by first name on the scoreboard, and their numbers aren't
listed, so there's no way of telling which player is which
- The names for the Green and Yellow teams' players are the same
- Guy Lombardo was a bandleader (his band, the Royal Canadians, was associated
with playing "Auld Lang Syne" on New Year's Eve) and never said "There is no 'I' in 'Team'"
(except maybe to someone in his band); on the other hand, Vince Lombardi was a famous football coach (the Super
Bowl trophy is named after him), but I'm not sure if he was the first to make the statement
- Don't try this in your league, part 1: there is a rule that prevents players
from wearing hats in basketball, so Arnold shouldn't be allowed to wear his during a game
- Don't try this in your league, part 2: every coach who has some idea what he's
doing is aware of the stunt of a poor free throw shooter suddenly coming up with an injury so a better shooter
can come off the bench and shoot for him (and, by the way, if a free throw shooter is hurt, the player who replaces
him must shoot for him), which is absolutely illegal if the injury is fake

Cool Jerk
A cool older boy makes friends with Arnold (he likes the shape of Arnold's head), but Arnold has second thoughts
when he discovers how his friend can afford expensive stereo equipment while never working

Modern Life, and Winslow on CatDog) as Frankie G, and Max Casella (Doogie Howser,
M.D.; Newsies) as two of Frankie's friends
- The ball Harold throws looks like a giant orange
- Frankie G. wears a "Star Trek" pin
- Frankie G. just happens to have a helmet that fits Arnold's head, and Arnold
wears it without removing his hat (and his hat isn't crushed by it)
- The first time Arnold wears his helmet, it doesn't affect his hair, but after
that, his hair is messed up
- More evidence that Arnold has taste: he prefers pinball to video games
- The water tower at the end says "LOWTWATER"; Steve Lowtwait is a layout
designer on the show
