Operation Ruthless
Actually, Helga wants to keep Arnold "Ruth-Less" - that is, keeping Arnold from Ruth McDougal, the
sixth-grade girl he likes but can't find a way to introduce himself at the annual Cheese Fair

- It seems that the only people not trying to rig the "mystery" Tunnel
of Love are Harold and Ruth - so why were they in line in the first place?
- Phoebe doesn't seem to have any trouble turning three times, but Helga does it
in what looks like three separate turns
- There's no credit for Ruth (probably because all she says is "Ewwww!"
when looking at herself in the mirror); a number of people tell me it's Anndi McAfee's voice - for that matter,
Nadine "speaks" (well, giggles, when the Tunnel of Love line starts to collapse), but there's no credit
for her, either
- Did you know that Helga and James Bond creator/author Ian Fleming have something
in common? According to Simon Singh's book The Code Book: The Evolution
of Secrecy from Mary, Queen of Scots to Quantum Cryptography, Fleming
developed his own "Operation Ruthless", which was a plan during World War II to capture German navy code
books by dressing British pilots as Germans, having them crash a captured German plane into the English Channel,
and then stealing the books from the German ship which came to "rescue" them. (It never actually happened,
as on the day it was planned, there were no German ships in the Channel.)

The Vacant Lot
The kids clear out a vacant lot near the boarding house as a baseball field, only to find that the nearby adults
have taken it for themselves - and argue over how to use it

Helga, Sheena - Francesca Marie Smith

Grandpa - Dan Castellaneta

Ernie - Dom Irrera
Mr. Green - James Keane
Harvey - Lou Rawls
Mr. Hyunh - Baoan Coleman
Suzie - Mary Scheer
Mrs. Vitello - Kath E. Soucie
- The first two cars to go by are identical
- There are two trucks seen; the first one says "LANDSCAPERS CO." and
"555-DIRT"; the second one says "I'LL DIG ANY HOLE FOR A PRICE" and "1-800-EAT-MY-DIRT"
If you've ever noticed that just about all telephone numbers in TV and
movies begin with 555 (besides the area code), that's because most phone companies don't assign numbers beginning
with 555, probably just for this purpose (except for 555-1212, which is how you dial 411 for numbers outside of
your area code); there are quite a few people that will call any number they see on TV (so I hope somebody made
sure 1-800-EAT-MY-DIRT is not a real number)
- When Helga tags Gerald out, her catchers mitt has turned into a normal fielder's
glove
- "Who's Robert?" He's the kid with the green shirt, blonde hair, and
glasses. He's never actually called by name (and never credited, at least through the middle of the fifth season),
but his name does appear on the scoreboard in "Benchwarmer" and Craig Bartlett has said that his name
is Robert.
- Brainy manages not to be hit by Helga
